We recognise that some patients and their families from outside our Sussex NHS service may wish to seek access to our specialist services via our self-funded self-referral route. Our dedicated and highly skilled teams led by Consultant Podiatrists and Nurses take pride in their ability to care for your foot and ankle problems, optimise specialised treatments/rehabilitation and improve patients’ lives. If you or a loved one is dealing with foot or ankle issues, we’re here to help.

We will be happy to review your self-referral if you or your relatives can complete the simple form. Our aim is to respond to your initial enquiry as soon as possible. Below are answers to some of the frequently asked questions our patients have, including costs.

What is the difference between a podiatrist and a chiropodist?

There is no significant difference between a chiropodist & a podiatrist.

What are the main causes of foot problems?

There are many potential causes of foot problems which include:

  • Standing on your feet for prolonged periods
  • Aging
  • Injury or trauma
  • Overuse
  • Extra body weight (greater loading due to an increase in body mass)
  • Wearing shoes that don't fit properly
  • Other conditions such as Diabetes or Arthritis
How do I know if I need to see a Podiatrist?

You should consider seeing a podiatrist if you have foot, ankle, or lower limb issues.
